We will be focussing on Poetry The first one will be Silver Slowly, silently, now the moon Walks the night in her silver shoon; This way, and that, she peers, and sees Silver fruit upon silver trees; One by one the casements catch Her beams beneath the silvery thatch; Couched in his kennel, like a log, With paws of silver sleeps the dog; From their shadowy cote the white breasts peep Of doves in a silver-feathered sleep; A harvest mouse goes scampering by, With silver claws and a silver eye; And moveless fish in the water gleam, By silver reeds in a silver stream. The morning mist, the stranger and the coincidence. Three phrases combined in one short piece of writing.   17/04/17 The morning mist was minding its own business, sitting quietly and nigh-on motionless on the hills. Yet everyone blamed the mist for the series of events that followed. The only crime that the mist might have committed was to leave teardrops of moisture on the filigree cobwebs and slender twigs of the hedgerows. And yet the mist was blamed. Some said that if it wasn’t for the mist the coach driver would have seen the stag. Others said that if it wasn’t for the mist the stag would have seen and heard the coach. Either way the bus would have delivered the children to school on time and the stag would have walked majestically away to find his does. Contributions from Wendy Parsons The House on Th e Gloomy Hill The house on the gloomy hill, steeped high in black rain soaked clouds, was a sight for sore eyes.   It was gone December 2012, still in a Christmas hangover. And suddenly in the bleak mid-winter there appeared one speck of light like a thimble in a haystack amongst the blackness of the night. Hard to notice at first, but as it happened Greg, a young man, blond hair and wicked mischief and stunning eyes was staring at the speck of a star, and the longer he looked the more prominent it became. Elaine Banks Five words or phrases to incorporate into the writing: widow/widower, inquisative,secret,the wrong side of town,the missing piece of the puzzle. Jen had been widowed after just five weeks of marriage. Eric had been seventy-three, and owned the firm she had worked for, in her first job out of university. Jen's parents had been scandalised  - they were only in their 50s themselves - but her friends hadn't been more than mildly surprised. Jen took to widowhood with relief, and began to go through the books at the firm.  Being of an inquisitive nature, she soon started a list of discrepancies. The ten-strong workforce weren't happy, but they got used to her prowling about and questioning their work methods and checking the equipment. It was unfortunate that the nature of the business meant that Jen didn't feel able to call in specialist accountants or bio-engineers.
